The exhibition "Il formidabil monte. Vesuvius in the photographs of the Alinari Archive", which was held with great success at the Mav - Museo Archeologico Virtuale (Ercolano, NA) last December, is now on view at Museo del Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio of Boscoreale from 3 December 2022 until 6 January 2023.
The exhibition is the result of an initiative by the Cives-MAV Foundation, in collaboration with Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia and the web-magazine Foglieviaggi, financed by the Campania Region, and with the support of Scabec - Società Campana Beni Culturali.
Curated by Rita Scartoni and Vittorio Ragone, the exhibition consists of a series of photographs of extraordinary historical and artistic value that tell the story of formidabil monte, the Vesuvian and Neapolitan territory in the period from the second half of the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, up to the 1944 eruption.
The exhibition is on view during the opening hours of the Museum: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am until 4 pm.
